Clinical Training

Building the confidence and capacity to work with the whole family.

Many clinicians receive excellent training in individual therapy while receiving relatively little practical preparation for working with an entire family system.

We want to help close that gap.

Courageous Families provides clinical training, supervision, consultation, and professional development for individual therapists, clinical teams, treatment programs, and organizations.

We also work with organizations to strengthen their family programming and models of care, including consultation around the development of integrated aftercare services.

Better family work begins with clinicians who understand the system and have the confidence to work within it

Our training is intentionally practical

We don't want clinicians simply to understand family systems theory - we want them to feel increasingly capable of sitting with a family, understanding what is happening in the room, trusting their clinical thinking, and knowing how to intervene.

Training can include:

  • Family systems foundations
  • Family assessment and conceptualization
  • Working effectively with parents
  • Adolescent and young adult development
  • Boundaries
  • Communication
  • Relational patterns
  • Experiential approaches
  • Practical tools for working with families

Strong clinicians need a centre too... a clear theoretical foundation, a strong sense of self, and the confidence to remain grounded when the work becomes complex.

What our Clients are saying

“The training increased my confidence and gave me tools I could immediately bring into my work."

"Complex concepts were explained in a way that was clear, practical, and grounded in real clinical experience. Just as importantly, it challenged me to deepen my own self-awareness and better understand how I show up in the therapeutic relationship.”
